Walkathon Against Atlantic Yards October 14

Develop Don't Destroy Brooklyn (DDDB) sent word that they will again be hosting the "Walkathon Fundraiser—a Better Brooklyn, One Step at a Time" on October 14 from noon to 5 p.m.

Individuals, teams and families are invited to step out on Sunday, October 14 to help raise funds and awareness for the ongoing fight against Forest City Ratner's Atlantic Yards project.

DDDB reports: "Communities fighting Ratner's disastrous project are gaining the upper hand. Two strong cases are in state and federal court, challenging Atlantic Yards' lack of democratic process and a conspiracy to violate the U.S. Supreme court's ruling against government favoritism of a single politically-connected developer. Either of these cases could slow, stop, or radically alter the Atlantic Yards project."

Registration takes place from 12 - 1 p.m. at Freddy's Backroom, 485 Dean Street at 6th Ave.; the Walkathon is from 1 - 2:30 p.m.; and the celebration from 2: 30 - 5 p.m.! (Soda Bar, 629 Vanderbilt Ave. at Prospect Ave.)
